More on Optimal Foraging.

"Based on the theory of natural selection, the underlying tenet of optimal-foraging theory is that individuals who employ efficient strategies in hunting and food collection produce more offspring or more successful offspring because they gain extra resources to invest in their family, offspring, or mates." (Barlow 2002)

I thought was a very succinct description of Optimal Foraging. I think this is a lot better than my rant. I don't like this theory much. I think that's obvious.

It does have its place though. It is wonderful for a base of what people might have been eating. However when this is the focus of a study complex cultural groups, not a stepping stone, that is where the trouble begins.
